Vaccine Quick Information
- When to get vaccinated:
- If you are travelling and would like the vaccine done, please leave at least 4 weeks before starting the course. the course is available to be given as an accelerated schedule of 0,7 and 21 days doses.
- Boosters:
- Once vaccinated, you will not require a booster dose until 5 years. However in certain circumstances or when immunity levels are not sufficient a further booster dose may be required earlier.
- Course:
- 3 dose.
- How is it given:
- The vaccine is given as an injection in the upper arm.
- Side effects:
- Common side effects include soreness at the injection site, fever, tiredness and soreness.
- Age:
- The vaccine is suitable from birth.
- Risk if you contract hepatitis A:
- Can cause flu-like symptoms to jaundice. It can lead to liver failure.
- Dosage:
- The course consists of 3 doses.
- Dose schedule:
- 1st dose:
- 0 days
- 2nd dose
- 28 days later
- 3rd dose
- 5 months later

The vaccine is available to be given for travellers travelling to high risk areas as well for occupational health.
